Watching Fonzie on Happy Days was appointment TV for me as a 10-year-old. I admire Henry Winkler even more as an adult. Finding out in recent years that he had a learning disability and how he overcame it gave me the inspiration to work with my son who had learning challenges of his own. When my son was still in elementary school, we would read the "Hank" books together. The stories were very relatable. I really enjoyed reading this article to see what Henry Winkler has been up to as of late.

I never watched Happy Days (my age demo then (25) didn't match theirs (15)) - but of course I knew Fonzie by his reputation and superstar image. Recently, I got to know Henry by watching his long interview with the Archive of American Television. I think Henry is great fun, maybe more so than Arthur Fonzarelli was!

After hearing Henry's list, I'd love to hear your ideas of who are the G.O.A.T. directors....

In 1988, I organized a fundraiser for a candidate for mayor of the City of Los Angeles (Zev Yaroslavsky) that was to be a Yuppy Jew event. Henry and Stacey (through Henry's agent---upon me asking) said they'd like to be "sponsors" and agreed to come. It was to be at a private home in the hills of Sherman Oaks, California. Henry described himself back then as a "liberal Republican," but all municipal elections in CA are non-partisan. In addition to Henry and Stacey, Ken Olin and his wife, Patricia Wettig, also consented, again, through Ken's agent. "thirtysomething" was on at the time. Unfortunately, a certain "memo" that was leaked via a vile, low-level employee of the councilman's campaign consulting firm (with help from Armand Hammer's Occidental Oil) blew up his candidacy and forced the councilman to exit the not-yet-officially-begun race in which he would have had a decent shot at defeating the then-four-term Mayor Bradley.

I was working for a boutique consulting firm at the time and my boss came in with the memo, handed it to me to read and said, "This is it. I smoked a joint last night and read it. It's hilarious!"

The only reason it was leaked was because but Oxy had it in for Zev because he was a huge voice, influence and power that would lead to defeating it in their attempt to drill for oil in the Pacific Palisades---the day George H.W. Bush was elected president, on the City of Los Angeles ballot. Bradley and most of the entire L.A. Political Establishment, which included Mickey Kantor, all supported Oxy's project.

My event, with hundreds of single (and married) Jewish Yuppies was on schedule to rake in roughly $10K (at a minimum) given the number of people indicating a strong desire to attend and/or write checks.

"Coincidentally," shortly after "Memogate," the now-defunct L.A. Herald Examiner published a scoop that badly damaged the heretofore integrity of the mayor (Henry Hwang-Far East Bank). This is the LAT advanced story link on it: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1989-07-30-me-677-story.html

I have no clue if Henry (or Ken) has an recollection of the fundraiser today, since it was near the end of 1988, but I'd like to put it out there, and thought this would be a good platform with which to do so. I hope no one is offended; least of which the two conversing "OLD GOATS."
