Fully agree on the military and domestic Russian political analysis. As an aside, our press covers this as if there is a global consensus hostile to Putin. Israel, Saudis, Chinese, Indians, to name a few have NOT risen to Americas call to arms much less to indignant condemnation. While I truly salute Bidens achievement of very tight alignment and sense of purpose domestically and with Western Europe, that’s about it. This is no longer Americas world. The “end of history” has not arrived. The west has great strength, but it does not have the strength of anything near global consensus that it might have enjoyed in say, 1990 or earlier. If we win, without WWIII, it may well shore up Americas distinctly flagging leadership more broadly.

As the floodgates of anger open in Putin's police state, mother Russia, he could soon find himself fighting a two-front war. Since there is a de facto prohibition on protest, his opposition will probably need to find more clandestine (violent) means of expression. Putin may find it necessary to destroy his country in order to save it.
