I think Biden will run again so it’s a moot point, but you really think that if he didn’t, the sitting vice president, an African American woman with Biden’s (implicit at least) endorsement, wouldn’t have a chance in the primary? Don’t get me wrong, I agree she is unpopular and wouldn’t have a chance in the general, but some white dude like Polis or Newsom is gonna have a tough time pushing her out of the way. I think she has a virtual lock on winning SC, and just like Biden could coast from there.

It's a nice idea but don't you think it would be seen as too much of a step down?

I've been observing politics for nearly 64 years, and I can't quit, no matter how hard I try. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly; and since the rise of MAGA, there's been way too much of the latter. As of today, I have just one strong feeling about the 2024 presidential race - Trump will not regain office. The image of the former guy slumped morosely at the defendant's table in a NYC courtroom last Tuesday is the picture of a beached humpback whale, not the future leader of the free world. The Republicans are functionally leaderless, and 2024 is a game that Democrats can only lose if they have a Code Blue event before election day.

I sense you;'re right, JoAnne. I don't see Trump regaining the support of Republican women and independents that he lost. But strange things happen. If Manchin runs as an indie, which he's threatening to do, Trump could sneak back in.
